How to Set Up Safely

Written by Djardi Messaoud

The Safely integration provides an insurance-based alternative to security deposits for eligible properties. You can connect Safely from iGMS, choose protection for each property, see whether a reservation is covered, and open a claim from the Inbox or from the reservation’s card.

This article explains where Safely is available, how coverage works, how to enroll a property, and how to manage billing and claims.

Where is Safely available?

Safely is available for properties in the United States, except New York State and US Territories. The Safely section is not displayed for properties outside the supported area.

How does Safely coverage work?

Before enrolling a property, keep the following rules in mind:

  • Coverage applies to all booking channels connected to the property. You cannot select individual channels.

  • Coverage starts 24 hours after you click Sign up.

  • Only new reservations received after that 24-hour activation period are covered.

  • Reservations already on your calendar when you enroll the property are not covered, even if their check-in date is in the future.

  • Coverage is active only during the covered reservation period.

  • Owner reservations and maintenance blocks are not covered.

  • Changes to the selected protection apply to new reservations only.

  • Disconnecting Safely takes effect immediately and does not have a 24-hour waiting period.

Safely is set up at the property level. If you manage several properties, enroll each property separately.

Important: Authorizing Safely to access your iGMS account does not start coverage. You must return to the property, select the protection, and click Sign up.

What protection options are available, and what does the coverage include?

Safely’s pricing, protection tiers, and policy terms are maintained directly by Safely and may be updated at any time. Rather than reproducing those details here, we recommend reviewing them from the source to make sure you always have the most current information.

For a full breakdown of what is and isn’t covered under the Safely Protection Policy as it applies to iGMS users, please feel free to visit Safely’s dedicated coverage page.

If you have any specific questions about your policy or a coverage scenario, please feel free to reach Safely’s concierge team directly at [email protected].

How do I connect Safely and enroll a property?

The first property requires two stages: authorizing Safely for your iGMS account and enrolling the property.

  1. Go to Properties.

  2. Select the property that you want to protect.

  3. On the General tab, scroll to the bottom of the page.

  4. In the section that says This stay is not insured by Safely, click More information.

5. In the Insurance information panel, click Sign up.

6. If this is the first Safely enrollment for your account, the Safely authorization page opens. Click Authorize.

7. On the iGMS permission screen, review the access request and click Allow.

8. Wait for the Authorization completed! page and the Connection request completed successfully. confirmation.

9. Return to the property in iGMS and click More information again.

10. In the Insurance information panel, select both checkboxes:

  • By checking this box, I accept the Terms and Conditions

  • By checking this box, I acknowledge the Privacy Policy

11. Click Connect.

12. Select a Content & Dwelling amount and a Bodily Injury plus option. Review the Total, Channel coverage: All, and Apply coverage to: Coverage applies to new bookings only.

13. Click Sign up.

14. Look for an email from [email protected] with your coverage details. Reply to confirm your business address and legal company name.

Note: Repeat the property enrollment steps for every additional property. The account authorization step is required only for the first property.

How do I verify that Safely is connected?

Return to the bottom of the property's General tab. The Safely box displays the selected protection. Click Settings to open the Insurance information panel, where you can also access Benefits, Coverage details, and Disconnect.

After the 24-hour activation period, open a newly received reservation in the Inbox. A covered reservation displays:

  • The selected insurance policy

  • The message: This reservation is covered by Safely.

  • The file claim link when the reservation is eligible for a claim

If a reservation was already on the calendar before coverage became active, it does not receive protection retroactively.

How do I change the protection for a property?

  1. Go to Properties and open the property.

  2. Scroll to the Safely section and click Settings.

  3. Select the new Content & Dwelling and Bodily Injury plus options.

  4. Review the new Total and click Save.

The change applies to new reservations only.

How do I disconnect Safely?

  1. Go to Properties and open the property.

  2. Scroll to the Safely section and click Settings.

  3. Click Disconnect.

  4. Repeat steps 1-3 for each property you’d like to

    disconnect from Safely’s coverage

Disconnection takes effect immediately. Unlike activation, there is no 24-hour waiting period. Coverage is cancelled for all reservations arriving from the day you cancel onward.

How do I file and track a claim?

The file claim link becomes available after the reservation's departure date and remains available during the 60-day filing period. After 60 days, the link is no longer displayed.

  1. Go to the Inbox and open the covered reservation.

  2. Click file claim under Insurance policy.

  3. On the Safely File a Claim page, complete:

    • WHAT HAPPENED?

    • PAYMENT INFORMATION

    • SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

  1. Add the required photos, invoices, receipts, or estimates. For stronger documentation:

    • Make sure the invoices or estimates add up to the claimed amount.

    • Include a close-up of the damage, the complete damaged item, and the item in the room.

    • Include a police report for stolen items.

  2. If you are still collecting information, save the claim as a draft within the 60-day period. The draft timestamp preserves the filing date.

  3. Submit the claim on Safely's page.

Use the same file claim link in the reservation to return to the claim and check its status. Claim decisions, requests for more information, and payment notifications come from Safely to the email address that you have inserted in the claim. iGMS does not display claim-status notifications.

For claim questions, contact Safely at [email protected].

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply Safely only to direct bookings or one channel?

No. Safely applies to all booking channels connected to the enrolled property. Channel-by-channel selection is not available.

Are my existing future reservations covered after I sign up?

No. Coverage applies only to reservations received after the 24-hour activation period.

Why does a reservation show as not covered?

A reservation may not be covered because:

  • It was created before Safely became active.

  • The property is not enrolled.

  • Safely was disconnected when the reservation was received.

How does billing work?

iGMS will send you a separate insurance invoice once per month, for
